What is Not Covered

Exclusions that apply to Personal Accident policies

Illness or Disease

Death or disability caused by sickness, medical conditions, or natural diseases is not covered - only accidents qualify.

Alcohol or Drug Influence

Claims arising when the insured was under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or any intoxicating substance at the time of accident.

Self-Inflicted Injury

Intentional self-harm, attempted suicide, or any deliberate bodily injury - irrespective of mental state at the time.

Criminal or Illegal Activity

Accidents occurring while the insured is engaged in any criminal or unlawful act, including participation in riots.

Aviation (Non-Commercial)

Injuries during private flying, skydiving, paragliding or air sports are excluded. Scheduled commercial passenger flights are covered.

Hazardous Activities

Motor racing, mountaineering above 6,000 ft, bungee jumping, and professional extreme sports are excluded from cover.

War & Terrorism

Any loss arising from war (declared or undeclared), invasion, revolution, nuclear, biological, or chemical events.

Pre-existing Disability

Any disability or condition that existed before the policy inception date is not eligible for PA claim benefits.

Yes — SBI General's Personal Accident policy provides worldwide coverage. If you meet with an accident outside India, you are covered for accidental death and disability under the same terms. For most PA policies with sum insured up to ₹15 Lakh, no medical examination is required. You will need: (1) Identity proof (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport or Voter ID), (2) Address proof, (3) Recent passport-size photograph, and (4) Bank account details for premium payment. The policy is typically issued digitally within minutes.
Yes. During the free-look period (15 days from policy receipt), you can cancel for a full refund minus stamp duty and proportionate risk premium for days on cover. After 15 days, short-period cancellation refund applies on a pro-rata basis. If a claim has been made, no refund is payable on cancellation.
